YSA Devotional at Christiansborg Stake Center

Sunday, April 17, 2016 saw an historical gathering of Young Single Adults at the Christiansborg Stake Center in Accra, Ghana.  The official count of attendees was 1,187 with others scattered though out the building and on the grounds.  President Alex Boateng of the Ashaiman Stake Presidency exclaimed that never before in the history of Ghana had this many YSA assembled to hear the words of a General Authority.   President Quaisie of the Christiansborg Stake asked: “How did this happen?”

The Lord must have been smiling as he looked down on this large group of reverent young adults anticipating the messages they were to receive that evening.

Afterwards many were overheard commenting on how they were going to incorporate the concepts they learned into their daily lives!

Elder LeGrand R. Curtis, President, Africa West Area, and Sister Jane Curtis taught uplifting principles of stewardship and “Illumination” which each young person could readily assimilate into their daily lives.   The concept of “What Kind of parents do I want my children to have?” went directly to the hearts of the participants.  The training on how to make correct choices in a spouse by using both the heart and head resonated with the listeners.  There were many comments afterwards about the “perfect instruction” they had received that evening.

The music for the program was provided by the Collegiate Choir which claims several of the YSA as members.  This group sings the messages of the Gospel hymns in a uniquely uplifting way.  Their musical messages were a wonderful addition to the spoken words.

And now, one week later, we are hearing that those who missed this special event are feeling like they truly missed out on something special.  They are asking when the next one will be so they can experience the teachings first hand.  They will be pleased when they hear that it is scheduled for October 16,, 2016 at the same venue.
