Family Home Evening with Legon Branch YSAs

“The general rule is to marry a faithful member of the Church in the temple, and to follow the Spirit as to any exception to that rule”.

The Legon Branch YSAs met together for FHE this past Monday evening, March 19, 2018.  Attending FHE is a great opportunity to help strengthen testimonies, reach out to the less-active, and socialize with each other as YSAs attend school together.  Nineteen university students attended and started the evening with a fun get-to-know-you activity.  Remarks of how much better they knew each other were shared after the activity was finished.

Brother Cephas Ankomah is the YSA male representative and the organizer of the evening’s activities.  He invited Elder and Sister Pierce, the Area YSA Senior Missionaries to provide the FHE message.  Because there had been a discussion the prior two weeks on several lessons from the Institute manual on marriage and family relationships, Elder and Sister Pierce had a question and answer session on these and other topics relating to young single adults.  Questions included how long a single person should wait until they would consider marrying outside the church? , the church teachings concerning career women, to a discussion on how a husband and wife successfully work through conflicts in their marriage.  After the discussion, there was a much better understanding to help guide them in their thoughts and decisions regarding these important topics. Especially the answer to whether or not one should marry outside the Church, which reads “The general rule is to marry a faithful member of the Church in the temple, and to follow the Spirit as to any exception to that rule”.

The evening concluded with a closing hymn, prayer, and refreshments.  A group picture was also taken to remember the evening.
