Meet the Grandparents

Over 50 young single adults in the Ashaiman Stake held an inspiring evening entitled ‘Meet the Grandparents’ on March 25, 2017.  The theme for the evening was reuniting families and reconnecting with our heritage.  The goal was to encourage family history work among young single adults and to launch the family history challenge to gather names for their temple trip in May.  Family History work involves performing the necessary ordinances on behalf of our deceased ancestors that allows them to receive eternal life.  Because of the sealing power restored through the prophet Elijah, family members of all generations may be joined in eternal relationships.  Sister Dadzie, the stake young women’s president, and President Prempeh, 2nd counselor in the Ashaiman presidency, also shared their testimonies of family history by relating stories from their own families.

The young single adults in attendance learned more about the principle of family history, and many inspiring stories and pictures of family members were shared.  Also, they were further educated about their Ghanaian heritage by learning about some of the national heroes and key people that helped Ghana to become a nation.  Each unit was assigned to creatively represent a person in the history of Ghana.  This was accomplished with beautiful music, dancing, and role plays.
