Liberia Monrovia Mission
Arvid Alan Carlson, 62, and his wife Kelly Lynn Lilly Carlson, have been called to serve in the Liberia Monrovia Mission. They are the parents of five children and reside in the Wasatch Mountain Ward, Midway Utah Stake. Brother Carlson serves as a young single adult adviser and is a former stake presidency counselor, district president, branch president, branch presidency counselor and missionary in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. He is a retired physician with the United States State Department. Brother Carlson was born in Oakes, North Dakota, to Carl Alvin Carlson and Gloria Mae Widmer Carlson.
Sister Carlson serves as a young single adult adviser and is a former district Primary president, ward Young Women president, branch Primary president and seminary teacher. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Morgan Eldon Lilly and Peggy Joyce Christy Lilly.
Sierra Leone Freetown Mission
Kevin Harold Clawson, 58, and Toi Lyon Clawson have been called to serve in the Sierra Leone Freetown Mission. They are the parents of five children and reside in the Fairport Ward, Palmyra New York Stake. Brother Clawson serves as a stake presidency counselor and is a former bishop, stake mission president, high priests group leader, area public affairs co-director and missionary in the France Paris Mission. He is president and chief executive officer of Reach the Children, a humanitarian non-profit organization. Born in Landstuhl, Rhineland Pfalz, Germany, to Robert Marion Clawson Jr. and Elizabeth Silver Clawson.
Sister Clawson serves as a multi-stake public affairs director and is a former Hill Cumorah Pageant and area public affairs director, seminary teacher, and Primary music leader. She was born in Salt Lake City to David Reed Lyon and Cherie Deanne Moss Lyon.
Ghana Kumasi Mission
Michael Laurence Cosgrave, 67, and Cynthia Gunn Cosgrave have been called to serve as president of the Ghana Kumasi Mission. They are the parents of eight children and reside in the Highland 38th Ward, Highland Utah Stake. They are succeeding President Leon A. Holmes and Sister Elizabeth A. Holmes. Brother and Sister Cosgrave recently served in the Ghana Accra Mission as MLS missionaries in Ho. Brother Cosgrave is a former counselor in stake and district presidencies, bishop, branch president, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Irish Mission. He had a career as a physician with Premier Family Medical. Brother Cosgrave was born in Dallas, Texas, to Laurence Dean Cosgrave and Ella Mae Mackay Cosgrave.
Sister Cosgrave is a former counselor in stake Young Women and ward Relief Society presidencies, ward Young Women and Primary president, ward family history consultant and ward Primary chorister. She was born in Salt Lake City to Harold Woodrow Gunn and Geraldine Margaret Kluge Gunn.
Nigeria Calabar Mission
Mathias Oghenebrorhie Eguko, 54, and Eunice Onovughe Eguko will be serving in the Nigeria Calabar Mission. They have four children and reside in the Sun City Ward, Ashaiman Ghana Stake. Brother Eguko is succeeding President John E. Kosin and Sister Christiana C. Kosin. Brother Eguko is a former bishop, branch president, counselor in a mission presidency, counselor in a branch presidency and ward Young Men president. He is employed by The Church as manager of training and operations, Ghana Missionary Training Center. Brother Eguko was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to Isaiah Eguko and Theresa Ishiokwu Eguko.
Sister Eguko is a former ward Relief Society president and counselor in a branch Relief Society presidency. She was born in Benin City, Nigeria, to John Ovie Onovughe and Comfort Onovughe.
Four new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service in July 2015. The Africa West Area is happy to see the missions in Liberia and Sierra Leone reopened after the closure, due to the Ebola outbreak, in August of 2014.
