University of Ghana YSA Group FHE

Twenty-five young single adults attending the University of Ghana took time out of their busy schedules to attend Family Home Evening that is held on campus.  They are members of the Legon Branch.  YSA President Cephas Ankomah welcomed everyone.  After the opening song and prayer, Elder and Sister Pierce, the Area YSA Senior Missionaries, provided a lesson on identifying social issues of the day.  They explained that sometimes “half-truths” can mislead us if we don’t stay close to the prophet, have personal prayer and regular scripture study.  They taught that God is the source of all truth, and we can know and understand His way for us.

Before the lesson, everyone enjoyed a fun get-to-know-you activity, and one YSA commented that he knew everyone there much better than before.  After the lesson we played quick game of “Bible Upset” where the group was divided into four bible names, (Ester, Ruth, Samuel and Samson).  As a name was called each person with that name had to move to a different chair.  The fun part was that each time a name was called a chair was pulled from the circle so everyone had to work hard to locate their next chair.

The evening concluded with homemade cookies and sodas.  The full-time Elders were able to also attend, and brought with two investigators.  Organizing and participating in weekly family home evening has been a great blessing to these young single adults.  The Legon Branch YSA’s have a wonderful friendly group!
