Pathway Group Meets with Self-Reliance Missionaries

The Pathway students who meet at the Tesano Institute Building enjoyed a special presentation by Elder and Sister Lambert, Area Self-Reliance Senior Missionaries during their regularly scheduled class time on February 16th.  This was an opportunity for students to broaden their horizons as they consider careers that utilize their talents. Understanding the job market for realistic employment opportunities in the area is also important.  The Lamberts shared research from the Accra area showing employment trends and what jobs are currently in demand.  Several resource manuals are also available through the Self-Reliance Program to give further insight and preparation.

One student expressed her appreciation to participate in Pathway to share ideas.  “If you keep all your ideas to yourself and not share, you may have the wrong ideas.”  She also said: “This class was important for our futures and to prepare for the personal needs of our families.”

Another student said: “The Self-Reliance Program helps us in money management and identifying possible skills that we might be good at doing as we discover our talents.”  He also said: “Pathway is just what it says, it’s a path way to what I should do after High School.”

In D&C 104:15 the Lord has declared, “It is my purpose to provide for my saints.”  This revelation is a promise from the Lord that He will provide temporal blessings and open the door of self-reliance, which is the ability for us to provide the necessities of life for ourselves and our family members.  Both Pathway and Self-Reliance are two excellent tools the church has provided to help members throughout the world.

There were approximately 30 in attendance.  Other missionaries in attendance were Elder Cobblah, Pathway Missionary, Elder and Sister McDougal, Pathway Missionaries and Elder and Sister Pierce, Young Single Adult Missionaries.
