YA Worldwide Devotional Rebroadcast Activity at the Ashaiman Stake Center

Monday evening, January 30, 2017, the Young Single Adults of the Ashaiman Stake gathered to view a re-broadcast of the Worldwide for Young Adults, ‘An Evening with President Russell M. Nelson,’ which aired on January 8, 2017 in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Stake Young Adult Representative, Natasha Dadzie and her YSA committee organized the event with special help from Daniel Ebo Quansah, Isreal Tumaku, Adam Smith and Kwaku Appau-Nkansah.  They began the evening outdoors with several fun ‘ice-breaker’ activities – without the ice, of course!  One game involved blindfolding one person and then another person would whisper to them trying to lead them in the wrong direction.  One of them was a surprisingly persuasive ‘devil’ who was able to lead some of them astray!

When it was time for the broadcast, the young adults moved into the chapel.  The first speaker, Sister Wendy Watson Nelson, shared her thoughts on love and marriage because, she said, she knew these were favorite subjects of this particular age group. Pres. Nelson invited all of the young single adults to increase their discipleship by studying and learning all they can of the Lord Jesus Christ.  He “assigned” them to do this by “consecrating” time in every week to study His words and teaching in all of the scriptures and in what the living prophets teach.  He promised great blessings to those who accept this assignment.

At the conclusion of the broadcast, the members in attendance were invited to share their feelings and testimonies about the counsel they had received. Several expressed their appreciation for what Sister Nelson had stated - that true love is both a physical and spiritual connection. This is what they want in a marriage verses the world, which is so focused on the physical side only. One said that he wanted to work hard on the marriage thing so he wouldn’t be here next year! They expressed gratitude for the gospel and leaders like President Nelson to guide each of us.

Approximately 45 members of the Ashaiman Stake were in attendance, as well as Elder and Sister Pierce, the new Area YSA missionaries.  It was a great opportunity to make new friends and share in the goodness of the gospel.
