Members of the Public Affairs (PA) Council of the Teshie Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, last Saturday, August 10th, went on radio to create awareness about the upcoming “All Africa Service Project” within the Stake’s catchment area.
A three-member team from the PA council made up of PA Council Director, Bro Edward Karkari, Priest Advisor to the PA Council, Brother Leonard Abbey and the Media Relations/Newsroom Director, Sister Naa Ayele Sekyere were on Latenu, a community-based radio station at La to talk to listeners about the upcoming massive clean-up exercise at the Teshie Landing Beach.
The trio had the opportunity to reach more than 200,000 inhabitants of the La, Nungua, Teshie, and Osu communities with information about the “All Africa Service Project,” urging all communities' members to join in at the Teshie Landing Beach on Saturday for the clean-up exercise.
Organized yearly by the Church, the “All Africa Service Project” is but one of the many rallying points that the Church uses to sensitize both its members and non-members on the love for community and the need to keep our environment clean.
During the one-hour radio discussion, the team urged the people to not just join the Stake to clean the Teshie landing beach site but to also take the initiative to constantly clean their environment rather than wait for the District Assemblies to come to do these things for them.
Listeners were enthused with the 'All Africa Service Project' and some promised to be part of it to help clean up the environment. The team also used the opportunity to thank Opinion leaders in the community, Zoomlion, Daben Cleaning Service and Latenu for their collaboration.
